Josh is a hero who needs your help!

Josh is a hero to hundreds and now he needs a hero.

At age 8, Josh was diagnosed with a brain tumor. He spent 5 years in and out of Scottish Rite Hospital in Atlanta and received 5 major brain surgeries and radiation treatment, but he never quit fighting. At age 13, his tumor went into remission but it left him permanently blind in his left eye and only 30% of his vision remained in his right eye. Still, he never complained and fought to overcome his disability.

During his illness, Josh attended Camp Sunshine, a camp that provides recreational, educational, and support programs for children with cancer and their families. After seeing the needs of his friends there, he became a counselor and was the brain child of SYC, an outreach ministry that helped to reach hundreds of disabled children and teach them to hunt and fish. Josh always loved the outdoors and realized that the outdoors was the place where kids learned to be less disabled and he was there for them. He helped on every hunt or fishing trip to encourage disabled children and help them realize that, with help, they could overcome almost any obstacle.

Because of his vision, Josh had to use special large print books in school, but finished high school, college and obtained his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Georgia.

Because of his vision, Josh knew that he would never to able to perform surgery, so he specialized in rehabilitative occupational therapy for children with traumatic injuries and illnesses. Again, Josh quickly became the hero of each patient.

Josh met the love of his life and now his bride, Kelly, who was also a counselor at Camp Sunshine and they dated through college. Soon after graduation, they married and then moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Suddenly, two weeks ago, Josh suffered an unexpected stroke that left him partially paralyzed on his right side. Now they need a hero. Medical bills are piling up fast with specialist and neither have been able to work. Kelly is trying to work half days, but needs to spend time at the hospital with Josh during therapy and recovery.

Trying to put into writing all that they are going through right now, would make a long read, but they need help holding it together during his extended stay at the hospital in Colorado Springs.

Josh is a hero to hundreds of kids who still need him, but now he needs a hero while he heals. There is no amount too small as I realize that we are getting close to the holiday season.

Josh and Kelly are two wonderful Christian people who have chosen life long professions that provide for others who need them.

Thank you for helping. May God bless each of you for giving.
