My name is Cortney, and I’m Clay’s wife. Writing this is hard, but we’ve reached a point where we need help.
Clay has been sick since the beginning of November 2025. What started as ER visits turned into four trips, multiple scans, an MRI, and more questions than answers. They eventually found blood clots, but he continued to decline. On the afternoon of February 3, all of his results were sent to his surgeon, who immediately called and told him to be in her office at 8 a.m. the next morning.
By the next day, he was in surgery.
Clay had part of his small bowel removed, after already losing his colon in December 2024. His body has struggled to handle another major surgery, and he has now been in the hospital for over two weeks. We’re finally seeing signs of improvement and are hopeful he may be able to come home this weekend.
Clay has for the most part not been able to work since November and will be out for at least another 6–8 weeks while he recovers. I have continued working because I’m currently our only source of income. His mom has been the one by his side at the hospital every day, making sure he’s not alone through any of this. I’ve been able to visit when I can, but it’s been incredibly hard trying to balance work and being there with him.
The medical bills from this extended hospital stay will be overwhelming, and we’re facing months of lost income while he heals.
If you know Clay, you know he’s strong, stubborn, and usually the one showing up for everyone else. Asking for help is not easy for us. But right now, we need it, whether that’s through a donation, a prayer, or simply sharing this.
We believe God is still working, even in the middle of the hard. We’re holding onto every small sign of progress and focusing on getting Clay home and healthy again.
Thank you for loving our family and standing with us during this time.
