Piper's Vet Bills

Yesterday, the kindest dog I have ever known, was admitted to the ICU, and she needs your help.
Here is her story
I'm Jason, (some online may know me as "Hanz"). I have been helping Nisa behind the scenes for the last month or so. In case you're wondering, is Nisa really like that? Or is it a character? I can tell you...she really is that friendly, quirky, person, trying to uplift your spirits, as she make's fun potions.
11 days ago, her Bernese Mountain Dog "Piper" started having a limp and within a couple days her feet had retained fluid and doubled in size, making it very difficult to walk.
Nisa took Piper to the vet and got her on some antibiotics, but those weren't improving the situation quickly enough and more vet visits were needed.
Nisa was stuck between a rock and a hard place. She doesn't have a lot of income, and while her online presence had just started to help give her the hope of financial stability, these vet bills and needing to take time to support Piper would quickly drain her.
On March 12, I arrived to help behind the scenes with the show, and Nisa was stressed. Piper was not doing well, and Nisa wanted to cancel the show. I promised to check in on Piper throughout the night so she could focus on the show and hopefully earn a little money to cover the first couple vet visits.
I went upstairs to check on Piper a few minutes into the show. I sat beside her and put cold packs around her. Piper put her paw gently on my hand and looked me in the eyes. Well, I fell in love with that pup. I laid with her on the kitchen floor throughout most of the show, popping down once in awhile to re-assure Nisa with an "All's well" thumbs up, but I could see, Piper was going to be needing a lot of help in the coming days.
Well, since that show, her condition has deteriorated, and we had to cancel the shows last week and Nisa has had to take time off her job, and spend her week taking poor Piper to various vet visits as they tested and tried to figure out what is wrong.
Yesterday, things went even worse. Pip needed to be taken not just to the local vet hospital, but to a specialized hospital 2 hours away where she was admitted in critical condition to the ICU. Despite her deteriorated condition, she managed to steal the hearts of the staff there.
Nisa, drained all her savings, and has borrowed money from some friends in order to help Pip get better. I can see her struggling, and just want to help somehow.
She does have a small insurance plan, but they won't re-imburse until Nisa has spent the money and submitted receipts. They have also said there are several expenses that they won't cover (like the consultations/check ups, and some of the procedures and meds)...but they won't be specific about which things, are, and are not covered until the receipts are submitted. Which put's Nisa and Piper in a really tough spot.
Right now the vet bills are already estimated to be $7800 (cad). They are suspicious that it looks like a form of arthritis, and it's possible that the couple weeks that it has taken to stabilize her condition, might have caused lasting damage. She may require rehab and accommodation tools for her comfort in the future. At this point, we just don't know how much more this is going to add up to, and how much the insurance company will actually help with.
After some heartfelt conversation, she agreed that doing a GoFundMe is really the only chance she has to survive this financial tragedy.
Piper came in to Nisa's life as a service dog in training, supporting her through her disability challenges. Pip has given her so much in the few years they have had together, and Nisa just wants to do everything she can now to return the love that Piper has gifted her with. Piper is so much more than a pet, she and Nisa are partners in life.
Let's help Nisa to give back to Piper for her years of service.
Nisa will have access to this page to give updates on Pipers journey. Check back here to stay up to speed.
Thank You so much for helping,
