Hey!! My name is Stephanie. I am 43yrs. old, in Aug 2021 I was hospitalized with Covid -Delta. Thankfully I didn’t have too be intubated but I was hospitalized for 4mths.
Prior to Covid I was living my life! Single, friends, work. My kids are all grown up so it was my turn to take care of myself.
I loved my life the way it was. Until I got sick,
I couldn’t breathe on my own. I was on a high flow machine at 100% oxygen.
I couldn’t walk my legs were so atrophied.
After finally getting my oxygen to where I only needed 3 liters I was able to go home on 24/7 oxygen.
Everything is still so hard to do. The simplest things you can think Of just drain me so much! I used to go to Zumba at 5am!! And now just to get off the bed is a challenge.
Covid Delta has left me with only 31% lung function & I now have COPD - post Covid pulmonary fibrosis. Which is worsening. I currently am hospitalized because I can’t keep my oxygen up. They were able to find a hospital in Houston to get me on the lung transplant list but unfortunately my insurance won’t cover that hospital. I will NOT give up! I have grand babies I wanna see grow up!
I am pleading with each and every one of you to please help out in any way possible… anything helps!
UPDATE: when I was released from the hospital, I was sent Home on steroids well it did cause cushings and I gained 80lbs. And I was so swollen!
At my first visit to Houston the Dr told me to even consider the testing phase needed prior to being listed I had to drop weight.
Well I reached that weight and he has now approved me to begin the testing phase!
I am so happy that I am now on my way to getting new lungs!
So I will continue to share my go fund me in hopes to exceed my goal to cover medical and travel expenses that insurance won’t cover. As well as moving expenses when the time comes that I listed I will need to relocate to Houston.
So I am asking for your help w any donations or even to share My pg.
