Starting in  2010, Barry Landau built, founded and operated over 300 "open page groups" on Facebook called the 'Plant and Animal Planets and Moons' . These groups were designed to celibrate and share the beauty of life on earth and scientific knowledge about nature. One primary goal from the beginning has been to attract young people from all over the world and connect them to experienced people who collect, grow or appreciate plants and animals of all kinds to encourage the transfer of knowledge between generations and to get young people to take an active interest in nature and science. Due to his severe diabetes, Barry has not been able to work or find employment and has been denied SSI status.

These Planet groups have been wonderfully succesful, with over 365,000 worldwide Facebook users signing up as members. These are not static "Like" pages as are most of the largest pages on Facebook. These are active and dynamic group pages, requiring constant oversight, input and participation. Barry's 45 years of studying plants, animals and all aspects of the scientific understanding of nature has allowed him to create a fun and friendly series of Facebook websites / pages  that have captured the imagination of hundreds of thousands of people.

Barry Landau has spent over 10,000 hours administrating and running his Planets and Moons system on Facebook. During this period he has been unemployed and unable to find any job. His personal financial situation has become critical and he needs to find funding to continue his amazing and inspiring work promoting nature and science to people all around the world.
