Jose and Jaime are both dedicated to their family, their community, and their careers! As an Albuquerque Police Officer and a Registered Nurse in the NICU, these two always put others before themselves. Jose and Jaime just renewed their vows this past October, and have two young daughters at home, and a son and daughter in Denver along with two grandchildren. Jose has been diagnosed with Stage III Carcinoid Tumors in his intestines as well lymph system. He has been inpatient at the hospital for over a week now after a bowel obstruction became much more serious. He has started treatment for this cancer, but not as aggressively as the providers would like at this time because Jose is in extreme pain, and they are awaiting test results for a more conclusive plan for treatment. He has a central line, providing all his nutrition to help his body continue to heal and function during this treatment. Jaime has been by his side the entire time, while their daughters are staying with family. The girls have been able to visit and are trying to make this a special Christmas. The Albuquerque Police Department has really stepped up and has provided Christmas for the Lucero's. We at NICU, along with friends and family of the Lucero's would like to go a step further, and help them out financially while Jose is still hospitalized and Jaime is out of work taking care of him. She has been by his side from the very beginning, praying during surgery, advocating for treatment and pain management, and constantly asking questions to help understand what exactly is going on. We know this money will not make the cancer go away, but it will help to keep a roof over their head, food on the table, and hopefully help to pay for the extensive treatment Jose will have to endure. If you would like to donate any amount, it would greatly be appreciated.
