Hi, My name is Michael and I’m fundraising for my son Micah Johnson who was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma cancer. It started in early August we realized his right eye was smaller than the other. He went to urgent care was told there was no concern since there was no redness or puss coming out of the eye. It started to get worse so he ended up on antibiotics for swelling once swelling went down noticed there was a lump on his eyelid. Doctors asked to see pictures and still said they don’t think it’s anything serious but he should be seen by a ophthalmologist. Once he was taken to the ophthalmologist she said that it’s definitely something to be concerned about and he should be taken to the ER immediately. We took Micah to children’s hospital and they weren’t sure what it was said it could be a syst or it could be a mass in his eye and they need to do surgery to cut it out and do a biopsy on it. Unfortunately when the biopsy results came back they told us it was rhabdomyosarcoma cancer in his eye. My world completey flipped upside down I have never been so scared and helpless in my entire life and don’t understand how this could happen to a child so young who is always happy and full of life. Micah will need surgery and chemo to get rid of the tumor and cancer cells. The positives are the cancer is no where else in his body and he is low risk it’s a very rare form of cancer only 365 cases in the United States a year. My son is my life and these are very difficult times and I will have to take off of work a lot to take him to Roswell for chemo and I just want him to be comfortable and get everything he needs. My son is definitely a fighter and very strong and I know he will pull through this. Any support would be greatly appreciated. After his first surgery and the trips to the hospital he still is shining bright and nothing can bring him down. Thank you for taking the time reading this and please keep Micah in your prayers!
