Update 3:
Very very very slowly things are somewhat better than they were; let’s just hope it continues as such.

Update 2:
It was found my mother has had a bowel obstruction (Saturday afternoon). The experience with the paramedics were initially horrendous but with my fight for my mother to get looked at swiftly as possible, it worked out. Things are currently very slowly on the upward path. Praying this will continue as such.

Update:
I ended up having to call for an ambulance at 3:45 this morning (19/4). All is currently under control and my mother will be well cared for and looked after by the hospital staff who have all done an incredible job with her already. I can’t speak more highly enough of this right now despite a terrible experience with one of the paramedics who came to our home.

Hi Everyone,

I have always been someone who has been reluctant to ask for help when I need it but always strive to better a situation through my own merits, determination, and commitment. The time has come, however, that I really, really need support.

For those who do not know, my father passed away in October 2020 which left me with a non epileptic seizure, no family in my own state and have only mother here, and me being her only family too. I do have some family but are interstate which make things hard particularly with age and distance being a barrier.

Just before my mother’s birthday in 2021, she was diagnosed unexpectedly with Metastatic Breast Cancer. There is no family history of such, nor signs that this would occur. She went through courses of chemotherapy and immunotherapy will led to successful outcomes, however, due to some side effects it was best to stop the treatment for awhile. My mother was doing extremely well it seemed with all tests, scans, etc showing all was clear and going well.

In July 2022, there was a sudden relapse. She was found to have cellulitis (after a number of falls, incontinence, etc) before finding that she had aiotitis (inflammation of the aorta) and ended up in ICU for one night as well. She had surgery and had a stent placed into her aorta.

All through this I fought hard, did everything to support her on my own, driving her to appointments left right and centre. I also had to care for myself at the same time, I had my own demons to face, not let my work be hindered as a result either because without this we would have next to income whatsoever as my mother does not have any savings or superannuation to fall back onto.

My mother ended up back on the immunotherapy as it was decided to best ensure that her cancer remained in remission.

A few weeks ago we had another set back. My mother started experiencing hip and abdomen pain, not eating properly, resting a lot more, some vomiting. At first we thought it might be due to a bout of constipation which everyone experiences at some point. But unfortunately it was only getting worse. We went to one doctor who suggested a CT scan and said it was a hip fracture but how this occurred as she didn’t have any falls etc. They did not take any further action rather referred everything back to the oncology team. Then things got worse - I took her to another doctor who supported me through my colorectal challenges last year. He was incredibly most thorough and did everything in his power to get answers. After blood tests and scans, it was revealed everything was far worse including a blockage in the kidneys, and kidneys were enlarged. Again, another round of surgery to put a stent in to help with the blockage.

My mother went to the specialist again two weeks ago who suggested we do a full body scan which now revealed last week that my mother’s cancer has returned but this time in her liver and abdomen. She has now started on urgent combined targeted immunotherapy/chemotherapy.

We are hoping this will be all for the better and gain optimal results as it did the last time.

I currently do not work many hours and everything has been extremely beyond emotionally, physically, and mentally draining more than words can say.

I have set up this fundraiser to support my mother and myself so that I can surprise her by paying off some bills as far as possible so that it’s only less headache. I have my fair share as well that I need to contend with as well so need to make life as easy as possible right now.

I am asking for your support today to please help me with this cause as I cannot continue to do this alone.

*Please note: I am ok with groceries and food, etc., so please do not offer this as I just want some financial relief for big bills etc. Please also do not suggest any organisations or other support services as I have this all under control.
