Support My Dad’s Stroke Recovery
Donation protected
I know some don’t like this platform so here is Venmo for those that prefer that @MattJaskol
On April 11th, my dad had a moderate to major stroke. Right front part of the brain. I found him at home with slurred speech, facial drooping, and unable to move the left side of his body. He was rushed to the hospital, intubated, and sedated. They attempted a thrombectomy to remove the clot, but weren’t able to fully clear it—though some blood flow was restored.
Since then, he’s been slowly improving. He’s speaking again, has regained strength on his left side, and is able to eat. But he still has limited mobility, foggy thinking, and very little energy to move around. He’ll be transferring to inpatient rehab soon, and we’re doing everything we can to give him the best possible shot at recovery.
I’m doing my best to juggle my travel work and being present for him, but I’m going to need some help.
There are costs building quickly—things that insurance doesn’t fully cover:
• Specialized recovery treatments
• Better quality food and supplements
• Equipment and support tools
• And possibly stem cells, a promising treatment for brain repair
I’ve never started a GoFundMe before, but if you know me, you know I show up when it matters—and right now, I’m showing up for my dad every day. More importantly if you know my father, you know all he’s done his whole life (69yrs now) is work to help support his family to this day.
If you’re able to contribute anything at all, it would go directly toward helping him heal with strength, dignity, and the best support possible.
Thank you for reading, and for being in our corner.
Update April 24th - After nearly 2 weeks of sadly to say a nightmare experience at Centennial Hospital. I was finally able to get him transferred to inpatient therapy at Mountain View Hospital just last night the 23rd. He still just starting to stabilize but already looking a lot better and happier in the new place and able to start rehab already this morning. Thank you all so much for the love and support and helping us along this new journey.
