Hey there. My name is Gemille and I’m an independent artist. I’ve been songwriting since I was a teenager, and now I’m finally ready to share my thoughts, perspectives, and experiences with the hopes to connect with you all.
I’ve been working on my debut EP since April 2021. It’s been an incredible start to chasing my passion, one that has helped me to come into who I am so dramatically already. This project is a peek into who I am in a raw, vulnerable, and eerie/scary sort of way that makes me that much more pumped to share. It’s like this project is the first time I’m doing what I want while being myself and living freely.
Who will love this project?
My music sits in soundscape that is dramatic, lush, and eerie, yet playful and moving. I’m inspired by classic legends such as Stevie Wonder and Mariah Carey, but am also in love with the new wave of musicians such as SZA, Frank Ocean, and Hiatus Kaiyote. All of this pushes my songwriting into a realm of alternative RnB/alternative pop that feels familiar yet fresh. I explore themes of self discovery, love, loss, and hope, things we all experience in this life. If any of this appeals to you, you’ll love this project!
What will I use the funds for?
Making music can be very expensive. So far, I have fully self-funded all of my journey, which includes recording both myself and other musicians, production, mixing, and mastering. The cost per song is about $2,000, and while I’ve been able to complete a good portion of the project this far, the funds from this GoFundMe will go towards completing the remainder of the project to ensure a successful debut.
So what’s first?!?!
The single, “Cerulean Eyes”, will be released on all streaming platforms on September 29 and explores themes of love and longing for something that is radiant yet toxic. As the fundraiser continues, I’ll be uploading BTS, tidbits, and sneak peeks for you to enjoy.
