Henry Buzzacco is a 20 month old who has medical disabilities that effect his airway and eating. He has been diagnosed with macrocephaly, laryngeal cleft, laryngeal malformations, laryngomalacia, dysphasia, silent aspiration, GERD, pectus excavatum, sensory dysfunctions, and much more. He is gastrostomy tube dependent and requires a very expensive formula due to food allergies along with constant care to watch his breathing and to make sure his tube does not become dislodged. On February 9th, Henry will go into the OR for the 4th time to have airway surgery to help his breathing. They will also be checking for other issues related to his airway defects, redoing his nissen fundoplucation that keeps him from puking, and GI will be going in to scope him from stomach down through his intestines. We are hoping to come out with better breathing and an easier time eating. Henry will be in the ICU after the surgery and then moved to a regular floor as he does better. Since this is such a big surgery and is taking place in Pittsburgh where his care is provided, we are asking for help for mom. She will be off work for 2 weeks to monitor his healing process and will be with him the whole time inpatient as well. This has been an extremely rough process and we would just like to take some burden off of her so she can focus on the care and healing process of Henry while inpatient and when he gets to go home. We appreciate any help and want to thank you in advance!
