Helping Janice

In the last few days I have watched a family go through a nightmare. On Wednesday, February 13th, 2019, around noon, Janice McBee headed to her accountant to get her taxes done. It was a fairly normal day, except the road conditions were not the best. As far as we can tell Janice’s car was drawn in by a snow drift, pulling her vehicle into the path of an oncoming semi truck, where they met in a head-on collision.
Within a few hours the world of Janice's children (Sarah, Jacob and Emma) was thrown into chaos. Janice has suffered so many injuries. The impact of the crash literally caused her heart to move in a way that tore her aorta. She had to have her spleen removed, her diaphragm repaired; she has broken ribs, a broken scapula, and a contusion on her brain, etc. At this point, it would almost be easier to describe what's right with her body than what is wrong. As of the date of this post (Feb., 19) she has spent the past week in trauma ICU at University Hospital Cleveland, during which time she has experienced numerous episodes of her heart going into A-fib; she has developed pneumonia, and she has a urinary tract infection. Needless to say Janice needs a lot of prayers, as she is not yet "out of the woods," and faces a very long recovery.
I arrived at the hospital while she was still in surgery (for approximately 7 hours). Over the course of the next two days I observed how her grown children reacted to it all, and I saw Janice in each one of them. Janice’s children are a true testament to Janice and to what is most important to her.....God and family. They are strong in the Lord. Of course, they have had their moments where they break down (naturally). Emma, who is now 8 months pregnant, dug through her mother’s purse looking for a list of her medications. She didn't find that list, but she did find one that is much more important to Janice. It is titled “People to pray for every day”. Emma had to walk away and weep when she realized that she reached through shattered windshield glass finding that list. My heart goes out to them. Many years ago I lost my mother in a automobile accident, and it was Janice who would search me out after I’d leave church services brokenhearted. She too has suffered great heartache in her life, but her faith in God, and in her children and grandchildren, have turned her life into a such beautiful blessing. (As a matter of fact, she is so excited to welcome her third grandchild into this world next month, Lord willing).
Most importantly I am asking for your prayers for Janice. So many have reached out as they learn about Janice's plight, asking how they can help the family. So, I thought I would set up this account as a convenient way for people to send funds to the family. They are all now experiencing unexpected expenses because of all of this, exaggerated in part by the fact that Janice was life-flighted to a hospital that is 1-1/2 to 2-1/2 hours away from where they each live. As for Janice, she will be unable to work for quite some time, yet her monthly bills will continue to pour in, not to mention an enormous hospital bill. Until she can make a recovery, she will not be able to provide for herself financially. So, please pray for them through all of this. And thank you so much for any support you can give to this family.
Sincerely,
A loving sister in Christ
(P.S. gofundme made us choose a goal "dollar amount.". We selected $5,000; but know that this will only be a drop in the bucket to their overall financial needs. Anything you can contribute will be greatly appreciated).
