I'm an RN working in an emergency department in Southern California asking for your help.
It is a reality that there is not enough protective supplies for our hospital staff.
Currently at my hospital we are being asked to conserve our protective equipment as much as possible. This means reusing masks and other protective supplies. We are doing all we can to make our supplies last however, we are still not being supplied with the best mask for protection (N95).
We are on the front line of this pandemic and need to assume that everyone that walks through our doors is COVID +. This means wearing the best mask to protect us at all times. Unfortunately the best mask is not readily available for all of us at this time. There are specific requirements that are needed to obtain an N95 mask.
We have an opportunity to purchase masks that would protect our front-line responders . It is a KN95 mask and is equivalent to the N95. This purchase would provide 35 masks per day for 30 day supply, 1050 masks total. This would give 1 mask to every RN/ED tech per day. This is big and can make a huge difference for us.
This independent purchase guarantees the masks will go directly to the staff working in my emergency department. Please help us so we can help you :)
