Spring Break 2020

We are continuing our focus by stressing the importance of higher learning to our youth. This year we are raising money for six of our Junior High and High School students to take a one-week college tour for spring break. Our concentration this year will be on Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU). Today the nation’s 106 HBCUs make up just 3 percent of America’s colleges and universities, yet they produce almost 20 percent of all African American graduates and 25 percent of African American graduates in the STEM fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics – the critical industries of the future.   

Many HBCUs meet the needs of low-income first-generation students, provide a campus climate that fosters success and a support system to thrive. They have an increase of student retention and graduation. HBCUs give black students the audacity to be leaders and world changers.      

We believe exposure to these great institutions will broaden their vision, expand their goals and allow them to experience something new.  This tour is sure to excite our college bound students by introducing them to some of the most academically challenging universities steeped in pride and history.

We believe that we have the responsibility and the power to point our youth in the direction in which they should go.  Our endeavor is to direct them in the path of excellence.  We also believe that it takes a village to help raise a child. Therefore, we humbly request your financial assistance.
