Support Mars' Top Surgery Recovery
Donation protected
Hi, I’m Mars, and I’m excited to be getting top surgery on October 7th! This is a life-changing moment for me, and while I'm beyond grateful for the opportunity, I need some help to get through the recovery period.
As a foster coordinator in animal welfare, my job involves handling large dogs and managing puppies every day. It's physically demanding work, but after surgery, I won’t be able to lift anything heavier than a gallon of milk. During my 4-6 weeks of recovery, I’ll need financial assistance to cover my rent, bills, food, groceries, and a dog walker on days I don't have a caretaker to walk them.
Gender-affirming care like top surgery is vital for my well-being and mental health. It allows me to align my body with my identity, giving me the confidence and comfort to live authentically. While this surgery is a necessary step for me, the recovery process will take me away from work and the animals I care for, which is why I’m turning to my community for support.
If you’re able to contribute financially, any amount would be a huge help and deeply appreciated. If I exceed my fundraising goal, I will donate any leftover funds to help another trans community member afford their gender-affirming care.
If donating isn’t possible, there are other meaningful ways you can support me! I’ve set up a Lotsa Helping Hands group where folks can sign up to assist with meals, errands, or other needs during my recovery. You can join my recovery team here: The Mars Recovery Team
Thank you for your kindness and generosity. Your support, in any form, means the world to me!
With love and gratitude,
