Support Monica's Road to Recovery
Donation protected
If you've dined with us before, chances are you've met one of our Back 40 family members, Monica.
On the evening of Wednesday, November 6, Monica was involved in a major car accident on Highway 248, when she was driving home for the night. A driver coming from the opposite side of the road veered into oncoming traffic and clipped another vehicle before hitting Monica head-on.
She was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition and sustained many major injuries. She faced multiple surgeries in the first 24 hours, as one of her worst injuries was a ruptured small intestine. As of Friday, November 22, she went through an additional surgery, as they found pooling blood and believe an abscess had formed near her intestine surgery site. With a broken femur, collarbone, rib, and sternum, Monica will remain hospitalized for, optimistically, only the next few weeks, but will remain rehabilitating for the next 6 months to 1 year. Additionally, she will be unable to work for a large majority of that rehabilitation time and foreseeable future.
Right before her accident, Monica tragically lost her best friend and roommate, and she had to relocate. She had just found herself a great new spot. Because of her current situation, she does not have a method of income, and she does not have insurance. Like you can probably imagine, she will be facing enormous amounts of medical debt, on top of the concern of covering basic monthly bills.
As we as a family have done what we can to help, we're calling on the rest of our Back 40 family members for support in any way you can offer! A Like, a Share, or a Donation, if you are able, is incredibly appreciated.
We will continue to visit Monica, offer her support, and show her love through this difficult time.
