Hello ,
My name is Krystal Kerkezian the owner of Salon Hanover in Walnut Creek, Ca. My team and I are fundraising for our dear friend and colleague Flora Kasan, who is battling a cancer diagnosis. We would be so grateful and appreciative of all of the support from our community to help lift her up and through this difficult time in her and her family’s journey to recovery.
Many of you know Flora as the person behind the chair — the one who somehow makes every appointment feel like catching up with an old friend.
For more than 22 years, Flora has been a hairdresser in luxury salons throughout the Bay Area. If you’ve ever sat in her chair, you know it’s never just about hair. It’s the conversations, the laughter, the life updates, and the feeling of walking out a little lighter than when you walked in. Over time, so many clients became close friends, and that community has meant everything to her.
Last year, Flora’s life took an unexpected turn when she was diagnosed with stage III breast cancer. She stepped away from the salon to focus fully on chemotherapy and treatment. And in true Flora fashion, she faced it with honesty, humor, and incredible strength.
Recently, Flora received hopeful news — her PET scan showed no malignancy detected after completing chemotherapy. While this is a huge milestone, her journey is far from over.
Flora is now preparing for her first surgery on the 27th. In the months that follow, she will undergo another surgery, and then a preventative surgery due to her BRCA gene. This next phase of treatment and recovery is significant, and the timeline for healing — and returning to work — is still uncertain.
Cancer has placed so much of Flora’s life on pause. For months, she has been unable to work or see clients, and as an independent stylist, that also means a complete pause in income. Between ongoing medical care, recovery, and daily living expenses, the financial strain has been overwhelming.
Flora has always been incredibly hardworking and independent, and asking for help is not something that comes easily to her. But right now, she is navigating a chapter that requires support — and so many friends and clients have asked how they can show up for her.
This fundraiser is to help Flora through this critical time — to ease the financial pressure of medical expenses, time away from work, and the unknowns that come with healing.
More than anything, Flora wants to get back to the life and work she loves. But right now, her focus is on getting through surgery, recovery, and taking things one step at a time.
If Flora has ever made you feel beautiful, supported, or seen — this is a chance to give a little of that love back to her.
Any support, whether through a donation or simply sharing this page, means more than words can express.
