Earthquake Victims of Turkey

On February 6th, 2023, at 4:17 am, my hometown of Hatay Turkey, as well as many surrounding provinces and countries were violently shaken awake by a 7.8 magnitude earthquake. Shortly after, we were hit again by a 7.5 magnitude earthquake.

The death toll of the earthquake, which heavily affected the region where it occurred, especially Hatay, Maraş, Antep, Diyarbakır, Malatya, Osmaniye, Adana, Adıyaman and Urfa, is in the order of thousands and still rising.

Turkey has declared a level 4 emergency as hundreds of buildings continued to trap survivors under rubble. Those outside were left freezing in the snowy, freezing weather conditions with nowhere to go. It has taken days for any help to reach the affected areas.

People have been working day and night with nothing but their bare hands to free those trapped under the buildings. So many people need medical assistance. Their houses have collapsed with everything they own.

My own family has lost lives. We have lost friends. We have lost our homes.

These funds will directly be sent to the Samandag region of Hatay and disbursed to anyone who needs aid. They can use it for food, clothing, medical expenses, funeral expenses and anything else they will need.
