Julian's Road to the Winter Olympic

My name is Julian Yee, or some of you may heard of me as Julian Zhi-Jie YEE. I represent Malaysia in Figure Skating and I am proud to do so. Since the age of 4, I've dedicated my life to the ice. I am a home grown Figure Skater who has been working hard and putting in a lot of effort to achieve my goals. Although I do not have the luxury of proper facilities and guidance, I managed to overcome the obstacles. I have finally managed to achieve my goal ; to qualify for the 2018 Winter Olympics. The 2018 Winter Olympics will be held in PyeongChang, South Korea.

Now that I've managed to earn a spot at the Games, I would need to be in top shape to perform to the best of my abilities at the Winter Games. Hence I would need to be training with a proper facilty and environment.

Training is expensive and a serious competitive skater like me needs to train overseas as there are no experienced coaches nor proper facilities here. I have been training for short stints in China, South Korea and Canada as I cannot afford proper long term training.

Ever since I've have been preparing for the Olympic Qualifiers, I've had the opportunity to train in Canada on a longer period from the support of many of you and I thank you very much for that. Unfortunately, I have only budget myself until the qualifiers. Now that I've earned the  spot, I require the funding to train for the Games.

In order for me to have a solid training regime in a proper facilty such as Mariposa School of Skating, as well as competition expenses (especially the Winter Olympic expenses) for the season, I have come up with an estimated budget of $60,000.  I can firmly say that I have done my very best to make not only my parents proud, but the country as well. My parents too have done their part by supporting me as much as they can. However I need the guidance and expertise of experienced coaches overseas in order to step up my game, and this is beyond my parents' means.  This particular sport is still developing in Malaysia and unknown to many. As such it is not designated as a core sport in the country. Due to this, I do not receive sufficient funds from the authorities. One of my aims is to promote the sport and put my country on the Figure Skating map.
I am currently ranked 38 in the world and I have been National Champion 5 years in a row. It is such an honour to be able to qualify Malaysia in to the WInter Olympics for the very first time.
This would only be possible provided I have sufficient support. Please do support and join me on the Road to PyeongChang 2018.

Any support would be much appreciated.

Thank You
