During these troubling times in the world, people are also going personal tragedies. My aunt Eileen Bauer, 72, was diagnosed in 2011 with metastatic breast cancer and has been battling it for the last nine years. She fought hard, but her health has taken a turn for the worse. Yesterday, she was diagnosed with acute leukemia. The oncologist has let the family know that the hospital can no longer treat her cancer. They are recommending hospice for palliative care to make her comfortable during her last days.
The only unknown is how much longer she will hold on for. The hospice costs almost $500/day, which will not be covered by insurance. The first week alone needs to be paid upfront. This will put a huge financial strain on my Uncle Ken who is retired and my cousins Jennifer and Melissa who both have young families. The last thing they should be worried about is finances during this time.
I know times are tough for everyone, but if you could donate anything to help ease their burden, it would be much appreciated. Beyond hospice care, any remaining funds will go towards her final expenses.
Thank you for reading and thank you for your support during this time.
