I’ve thought of 1000 ways to write this, But the easiest way to put it is we haven’t had the best couple years. We are a family of three and we are desperately needing help. In 2018 my mom was sadly diagnosed with small cell lung cancer and she sadly passed away in 2019. She was 45. She has three children two of which still live at home which would be, me (23) and my little sister Sophia(13). Fast forward a little bit, last year January 2021 our dad(48) started not to feel well. We went into the emergency room to find out he would be admitted and transferred to Seattle university of Washington, where he stayed a very long 3 months. In those three months he had open heart surgery that was never done before, replacing all the valves and having to go through a mass in the heart. The doctor called me and let me know there was a huge chance he would not survive and that my dad was very ill . When he was under his lungs failed causing him to be on ECMO for quit some time, his liver and kidneys were also failing, so they had to now open his stomach and check on the organs and needed to figure out why blood was filling his belly, this lead to months of coughing up blood and pneumonia. He was in a coma for 2 weeks and in ICU for a month. He finally woke up on February 4th. He couldn’t speak, and at this point was very skinny, very weak and had staples from the base of his belly to his neck. It’s been a very long recovery process as you can imagine. But he survived. Now a year later we are fighting with disability. He was denied. We got a lawyer and he was denied again. We can’t understand why, as his doctor from UW even wrote a letter explaining my dad needed this and will also need future surgeries.
we have used all of our savings to try and pay the bills we can, but we just don’t have anymore left. Now with all that going on we have MANY bills catching up to us, and we fear we could be homeless. We are trying the best we can to stay positive but it’s hard. We need help. Please help my family keep our home pay our bills and continue the fight for disability. That is a little of our story and that’s just the start. Please share and donate if you can. Thank you so much.
