Jordan has been a source of sunshine and happiness to our family since the day we adopted her as a newborn 11 years ago. We had already been blessed with two other adopted children and couldn't believe our luck when we were given the opportunity for a third child. She was truly a surprise from above.
Jordan was diagnosed with neurofibromatosis at two months old. The tumors associated with the disease mostly affect her eyelid area. Jordan had her first surgery at age two. She has since undergone three additional surgeries, remaining good-natured through it all. The only time she ever cried over her situation was in second grade when the other kids wouldn't let her sit down at lunch because she "has a creepy eye."
We have found a doctor who can finally help her. He is an expert in both neurofibromatosis and cranial-facial reconstruction. The surgery will be extensive as it involves tumor removal as well as taking bone from her skull to construct an eye socket as hers was compromised by tumor even before her birth. The problem is that our insurance is only willing to pay around $4000 of his $20,000 fee. We lost Jordan's dad last year, so money is tight now and we are unable to afford it.
Jordan has brought so much joy to all of our lives, and we want her to be able to lead the life that she deserves. Anything you can do to help will be greatly appreciated.
