Help Ashley Fight Breast Cancer

Hi, my name is MaryElizabeth Dowell, and I'm helping to raise funds for my teammate, Ashley Serrano. In January of this year, Ashley was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer, despite being only 25 years old. While the tumor is growing rapidly, thanks to early detection it is Stage 1B and at this time has not spread further. She is in the early stages of treatment at this time, but has already begun chemotherapy, along with oncologist appointments, genetic counseling, and planning for reconstructive surgery.

Preceding her diagnosis, Ashley had purchased a home in Melbourne, FL and moved only months prior. She has the support of her friends and family, but continues to experience ordinary household costs in addition to the costs of her treatment and supportive care.

Ashley's future course of treatment is anticipated to include 18 further weeks of chemotherapy, separated into 6 cycles. She will then undergo double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery, followed by one year of hormonal therapy necessitated by her specific breast cancer diagnosis.

While Ashley is a healthy young woman and a fighter, the full impact of treatment on her ability to function independently and work is not yet known. She has financial needs relating to her household costs, as during her treatment she will not be able to work the same amount of time that she was previously, as well as the anticipated financial impact of her ongoing cancer treatment.

During the time that this young woman is fighting to regain her health and return to her normal, active life, she needs all the love and support that we are able to provide her.
