Last night (3/12), we had to take Moose to the emergency room where he underwent gastric surgery to reverse GDV (gastric dilatation-volvulus), also known as “twisted stomach.” This can happen suddenly and randomly in large breed dogs with bigger chest cavities, and it is also fatal within hours if nothing is done.
Luckily, we were home when it happened, noticed that he was in distress, and were able to rush him to the ER where the team at VEG was able to get him into emergency surgery.
Moose was given two large bore IVs, multiple pain and sedation medications, scanned, and intubated in addition to his surgery. Although I am incredibly grateful to still have Moose, my 4-year-old pup, it is also a heavy bill to carry. I know the world is in a strange place, inflation is crazy, and we all have our own shit going on, but if you have anything to spare to help with Moose’s medical bills, I would be more than thankful.
He is the best and happiest boy, and he’s also my best friend.
Anything helps, including thoughts and prayers while he makes it through his recovery.
