HELP SAVE A LIFE
STEM CELL TRANSPLANT FOR VICTOR SISK
Hello Family, Friends, and Potential Donors, my name is Mona Sisk. It is my honor to organize this fundraiser to raise funds for uncovered expenses for a lifesaving stem cell bone marrow transplant for my brother-in-law, Victor Sisk, whom I have had the pleasure of knowing for over 40 years.
Victor has actively been involved with his church and community. Victor has made his career working for Costco at the Billings location for 30 plus years in the meat department. He has always worked hard to provide and has always been there to help others. He is a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend that needs our help.
In early November of 2022, Victor was unexpectedly diagnosed with acute leukemia and was advised by his oncology team to get to the cancer treatment center in Denver, Colorado as soon as possible. Victor and his wife, Minta, immediately flew to Denver, where he was admitted to St. Luke’s Presbyterian Cancer Medical Center to start his long battle against this aggressive blood cancer. For the next couple of days, Victor underwent more intensive testing and then started chemotherapy treatments as well as blood/platelet transfusions, which will continue until he receives his stem cell transplant.
This first stay in Denver lasted 28 days for both Victor and Minta. They were able to come home to Billings, Montana to continue treatments and wait for a stem cell bone marrow donor. Fortunately, a perfectly matched donor has come forth and has agreed to donate his stem cell bone marrow to Victor.
Victor and Minta will need to go back to Denver for a week to finalize all the testing and lab work. If all goes as planned, they will be able to come home for a couple of weeks before going to Denver for approximately 4 months.
Victor will receive his stem cell bone marrow transplant on approximately February 22, 2023. He will be an inpatient at the hospital for about 30 days and then will be moved to outpatient for 100 days. Victor will need a 24/7 caregiver after discharge. He will be unable to drive and will need to stay within a 10-minute drive of the hospital for follow-up appointments about twice a week.
This is a life-changing event for Victor, his family, friends, and loved ones. As you can imagine, this is an enormous financial expense that insurance doesn’t cover. Victor has been unable to work since his diagnosis in November. His health insurance will end in March when he will have to go on COBRA. This expense will be about $2,000.00 per month. Minta is limited in the number of hours she can work because she is Victor’s caregiver. They will have four months of hotel or Airbnb expenses, flights back and forth to Denver and Billings, Uber/Lyft transportation, uncovered medical expenses, and miscellaneous expenses that occur from being away from home. Also, they have continued expenses to maintain their home in Billings. Please help alleviate some of their financial burden/stress by donating to Victor Sisk’s Life Saving Stem Cell Transplant Fundraiser.
Your help would be greatly appreciated, and even the smallest donation will go a long way. If you’re not able to financially donate, please consider sharing this campaign with others to build support for our family and the long road to recovery.
Victor has a very tough battle ahead, and any thoughts and prayers would also be greatly appreciated.
Updates will follow.
