Amanda needs new WHEELS!
Donation protected
Amanda is a a beautiful young woman that is an advocate, sister, aunt and friend to many. She just happens to use a motorized wheelchair to get around. She will soon have her 29th birthday. Through her hard work and the support of her "community" she is able to live on her own and work with the disabled in her city. Recently her van bit the dust! The repair shop says it's too dangerous for her care givers to drive. Amanda has spastic cerebral palsy and chooses not to drive herself for safety reasons.
Amanda does use the bus however it is a two hour ride with at least one transfer to her work. She really needs her own van again. She has obligations as a board memeber of Protection and Advocay in Frankfort and as a Board Memeber of the Fairness Campaing in Louisville that require her to be places that public transportation just can't get her to.
Unfortunately there are no grants (that we are aware of) that will pay for an accessible van. When you are in a wheelchair and have limited income it is impossible to get a loan.
In Amanda's young life she has inspired many people. My hope is that this group of people will come together and help her by giving a donation and then sharing her story with their friends.
