Help Sally Recover After Her Stroke

My dear friend Sally experienced a stroke on a Saturday morning at 7:30 a.m. — a moment that changed her life in an instant. (10/26/2025)

The night before, while driving home after cleaning Airbnbs, Sally noticed that her left arm suddenly fell off the steering wheel. She managed to lift it back up but wasn’t sure what was happening. The next morning, she woke up unable to move her left side or speak.

Realizing something was terribly wrong, Sally courageously called 911 and struggled to communicate with dispatchers who patiently helped her through it. She was rushed to Holy Cross Hospital, where she was admitted to a specialized stroke recovery unit.

Doctors later explained that what happened Friday night was likely a warning sign of a transient ischemic attack (TIA) — sometimes called a “mini-stroke.” Had she known what it meant, she might have been able to prevent the full stroke. Now, Sally wants to share her story to raise awareness so that others can recognize these early signs and seek help right away — potentially saving lives.

Sally’s Recovery Journey

In just two weeks, Sally has already made incredible progress. She can now walk to the bathroom on her own, speak more clearly, raise her arm to her shoulder, and squeeze her hand. Her left hand and foot are still swollen.

Unfortunately, Sally was denied the aftercare medical recommendation of six weeks of inpatient rehab by her insurance — She has good friends and clients who are in the industry and are working hard to get her approved and/or a scholarship. It is very important she follows through as her doctors strongly advised it is essential to help her regain full mobility and independence.

Despite this setback, Sally remains positive, hopeful, and deeply motivated to rebuild her life. She’s already exploring creative ways to work again once she’s strong enough, including returning to her cleaning business, which she had lined up with daily jobs before the stroke.

How You Can Help

While she focuses on recovery, Sally needs help covering her essential living expenses.

Her monthly bills include:

Rent: $1,675 (she’ll be $375 short from her retirement income)

Car payment: $300.10

Car insurance: $106

Phone bill: $30

Cat food: for her two rescued mama cats

Sally is one of the most compassionate and giving people I know. She rescued two mother cats three years ago and continues to care for them lovingly. She’s always been there for others — now it’s our turn to be there for her.

Your donation, no matter the amount, will help Sally stay in her home, care for her cats, and continue her recovery with peace of mind.

Please consider donating or sharing her story to help raise awareness about stroke and TIA warning signs and to support Sally on her healing journey.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness, generosity, and prayers. ❤️
