Hi! My name is Ashley Pickard and I am fundraising for Adam Xaysuda. Adam has worked so hard in earning a spot to represent the United States at the Cross Triathlon World Championships in Townsville, Australia.

Adam is a very active member within his Maumelle community and church and a passion to spread his testimony to the world. Adam didn’t want to let this opportunity be just about himself so he has it on his heart to use this as an opportunity to help his community throughout the process. His dedication to others is why I was so eager to help his family with this mission.

Here is just a small snippet of his incredible testimony and how excessive helped his battle with addiction.

I have this amazing opportunity to represent the United States at the Cross Triathlon World Championships on August 22, 2024 in Townsville, Australia. I am raising funds to cover the travel costs of this trip. This race is invite only and for the top athletes from all other countries. It is such a tremendous honor to represent the stars and stripes in international competition but more importantly, representing you, someone who believes in me.

This is so out of my comfort zone to do this but I have this dream to show others that it is possible to change your life and that of others around you.

3 years ago, I never thought I'd be in this situation. I was 230 pounds, an alcoholic, fired from my job, agnostic, and kicked out of the house. I was ok with giving up and drinking all day. And that's what I did.

Things were going as bad as you can imagine and eventually my couch surfing rides ran out of waves. One day I read a quote, "Every person lives two lives, and the second begins when they realize they have just one." That was the catalyst for me to realize that I still have a chance. A chance to make a difference in the world around me. But time was running out and I had to get started now.

Since then, I've dropped 60 pounds, quit drinking, accepted Christ, started a coaching business and moved back home with my family. I've also used that new time to participate in triathlons, lead community service organizations and committees, get involved within my church, and trying to inspire those with addictions.

I believe every person has a better version within them that they can grow and develop. That version can be activated by changing something small everyday. And then do it again everyday. And then do it 1% better each time.

The anticipated costs for this trip ranges between $6,000 and $9,000 (if my wife can come along). Flights and hotel being the majority of expense.

--Any additional funds collected after costs will be donated to a charity that I am passionate in supporting, The Maumelle Lions Club. They donate the funds back into other charities in the community. They have given back over $19,000 over the past 3 years. I'm going to put this out there that I think it would be pretty swell if we raised $15,000 total. That would be beyond my dreams.
