To all the good citizens of the world, our loyal customers, family, friends and community members,
As the entire world is aware, the pandemic has crushed millions and millions of people's lives financially, physically and mentally. Paisa City Hostel being amongst the many millions of people effected. We did our best to survive, but unfortunately, we had to close our doors on April 30, 2020 as we could not maintain the hostel due to a massive blow to the tourism sector.
As the saying goes "one person's loss is another person's gain", as we said goodbye to all the memories and joyous times many of us experienced and we started closing our doors, we took things one step further and decided to donate majority of everything in the hostel to the people who were in need in the surrounding suburbs of Medellin. From beds to sheets to clothes and books and even video gaming consoles, everything went out the door and put a smile on the face of others who were gifted with these items in such dire times.
Today we are asking all the people mentioned above for your help. Paisa City Hostel was created back in 2014 and since then has won multiple awards for best ‘party’ hostel in Medellin and also sustained being in the top 5 best hostels in Medellin since 2017 until we closed our doors. A lot of memories (memory loss also), friendships and unforgettable times have been forged inside the minds of thousands of travelers worldwide. There was never a dull moment at our 24hr bar which had 8 happy hours daily plus a happy hour song played each time to remind everyone it was happy hour. We even got popular for our house shot called a "Paisa Bomb" which was served in our custom-made shot glasses that nobody had experienced anywhere in the world except for at Paisa City Hostel. We will also never be forgotten for having one of the biggest NYE parties in 2018 where we physically could not fit another person through our doors.
From DJ’s to competition nights with Mario Kart and even our weekly language exchange which brought a crowd, we want to bring back that environment where many lifetime friendships were created and that so many people loved. We will come back bigger and better than ever in the form of a boutique party hostel. So, here’s to having Paisa City Hostel 2.0. With your help, we will again be the best party hostel in Medellin. And this time, we will have even more to offer (if that’s even possible).
For those of you who are reading this and experienced our hostel and are wondering about Kanga & Roo (our hostel cat and dog), unfortunately we lost them also and they too were donated to loving homes.
So, I ask you, join me in bringing back joy to the party travelers. Help me make this dream for many a reality. Every donation will be recognized.
