Hi, My name is George Adams. I am trying to raise money to help pay for hospice care for my wife, Rita. She is suffering from Pancreatic Cancer. She had to undergo surgery for a blockage in her intestine. During the surgery, the surgeon said that the cancer had spread to her abdomen. Chemotherapy and radiation treatments will not help. The goal now is to keep her as comfortable as possible until the inevitable end. Medicare does not cover hospice care. They do pay for a visiting nurse but that is for about 3 days a week and only for a visit. I am thankful to get that. However, I am needing to have around the clock care for her. I am partially handicapped myself with a bad hip and knee. I am using a walker and canes to get around in my house. Rita needs help to get to the commode and it is very difficult for me to help her. My niece is helping me during the day, 7 days a week. I am so happy that she can help that much. My real problem is overnight 7 days a week. My niece cannot stay overnight. I am paying her for her time but she has her own life to live. She has already gone above and beyond!
The total cost for a month of around the clock care is almost $12,000.00 per month. I, of course, have no idea how many months I will need to pay for the care. We only have our Social Security as our primary source of income. I am 68 years old and Rita just turned 70 years in October 2022. We have been married for 47 years. I am an Air Force Veteran. Once everything is paid for I will donate anything left over to Saint Jude's Cancer Hospital. Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Thank you so much!!
