My name is Lisa Stroud, I am a 71 year old transwoman, parent and proud Hamiltonian. Many of you may have heard my story in the news last year. I was a victim of a violent hate-motivated assault outside of Hamiltons only LGBTQ2 bar.i ended up having my upper teeth knocked out and spent over 9 months unable to work as an Actor and Model.

Thanks to community, friends and Police Victims Services, i was able to cover $17000.00 of the $28000.00 cost of the dental implants.

Iam great full for the generosity that helped me regain my smile.

But life hasn't stopped testing me. Recently my car engine failed, I had no choice but to replace the motor. The repair cost $8500.00 plus labor and installation. Which i had to put on my credit card because I have no savings to fall back on.

Between the assault, my ongoing medical expenses and now this unexpected car repair, im in serious financial distress, with credit card interest payments piling up.

I wasn't going to start a Gofundme- Pride kept me from asking, but friends encouraged me to reach out for help. So iam humbly asking for your help.

To pay down the $8500 plus debt as well as my remaining costs for my assault.

I've worked hard my whole life, as a tradesman at Dofasco for 35 years, as a parent and now Actor. I never imagined I'd face this much violence or hardship in my 70's. But I believe in the power of community, I know that with your help, I can get through this.
