My name is Mary, and I’m Josh’s Aunt. I’m doing a fundraiser to help him and his family during a dark time. This is Josh’s story…

 

Just for one minute, close your eyes and sit quietly. Times up… now imagine that minute with your eyes shut as your future is in darkness.

 

This is the reality of Josh Fox’s future. At only 38 years old, his future just went dark. Josh was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes at age 5. He is no stranger to living his life with diabetes and all the challenges that comes with it. He recently battled diabetic retinopathy and has undergone procedures to save his eyesight. The heaviness and complications of diabetes have now changed his future forever. Last week, Josh suffered a retinal detachment, leaving him completely blind. Josh has always been a hardworking man who has made his mark as a GM Master Technician working at Priority Chevrolet. He also works in his garage at home to add supplemental income to his budget. He has four children, two boys and two girls. He's been married to his wife Kristen since 2019. The life he knew as his American

dream has come to a devastating and crushing end. Due to his sudden loss of eyesight, Josh is naturally troubled, anxious and stressed about his future and his ability to support his family and household. He can no longer see his children, wife, family and friends; he can no

longer work on cars, no longer drive a car, no longer watch television, and the lists go on and on and on. Josh’s old life has been shattered like broken glass on the floor. There are a lot of sharp edges, and some pieces are so damaged they’ll never be the same. This is where his family, friends, coworkers and, yes, even strangers can ‘be the light’ in his darkness.

 

Kristen is in the process of gathering documents to file for disability benefits for him. Unfortunately, once the application is submitted, it takes approximately 3-4 months to be accepted. In the interim, I'm asking for your help. He needs help to sustain his family and help him maintain his household expenses to take care of his family. As he learns to navigate his future, the goal is to offer him financial help to ease his stress. Also, prayers for spiritual support and compassion to find a way to alleviate his suffering while respecting him during this process and helping him maintain his dignity.
