Help Banita Fight ALS with Love and Care
My name is Matthew, and I’m writing on behalf of my mother, Banita, who was diagnosed with ALS in 2023. We’re asking for your help to raise $20,000 to purchase a handicap-accessible van that will give her the quality of life she deserves. This van will make transportation to medical appointments and family gatherings much easier, while also helping us cover some of her nursing care needs.
As many of you know, a home health aide and nursing care can be very costly. As a family, we’ve been committed to covering these expenses so my mom has the support she needs. But those costs have made it difficult to save toward this van, which is now a critical need for her comfort and independence.
Banita’s story is one of love, faith, and lifelong service. She grew up in Newark, NJ, where she first discovered her passion for teaching while substitute teaching at Roberto Clemente School. That passion became her life’s calling, and for 27 years she faithfully taught at Carteret Elementary School, in Bloomfield New Jersey , where she earned awards such as Teacher of the Year and Educational Services Professional. Her students and colleagues remember her not only as a gifted teacher, but as someone who invested deeply in the lives of others.
She has always been the anchor of our family! A woman of wisdom, compassion, and unwavering love. Even in the face of her ALS diagnosis, my mom has kept her faith in Jesus Christ strong. She longs for her family, friends, and all who know her to experience the love of God that continues to sustain her.
We have already seen the Lord’s miraculous provision: a free motorized chair, hospital beds, and more. Now we are facing a bigger need with this handicap accessible van. With your help, we can give my mother the freedom and dignity of mobility, and our family the ability to care for her well being during this difficult time.
Any contribution, no matter the size, will bring us closer to meeting this need. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your prayers, generosity, and support.
