Joan's North Wales Parrot Rescue is a registered charity which was founded by Joan and Mani Rakhra in May 2013.

They are a self-funded rescue and do their own fundraising in and around the North Wales area. Amongst other activities, they run the U.K's only Parrot Rescue charity shop in Colwyn Bay!

They take in birds when their owners can no longer keep them and match them to the right person and home that can commit to them and give them a second chance in life.

They also run a community programme to educate people about the the plight of these wonderful birds and their very particular needs in terms of welfare and care.

The rescue provides this information and support through our store, displays, school visits and social media, as well as our guest talks in and around the local community.

All your donations will go directly to the care of birds. Every bird who is rescued gets checked over by an avian vet. Birds get a healthy diet of fresh vegetable, fruit, Tidy Mix and other healthy food. All those working for the charity are volunteers, there are no paid officers; every penny goes to the birds.
