I'm Lewis Walden. I'm best known as DJ Lewis from Chaos, Club Uranus, Screw, Fusion and Sugar at the Stud, a decades worth of queer activist fun and dancing. I've been surviving Pulmonary Hypertension for over ten years and I'm currently without a place to call home. I have applied for public housing over two years ago and have been living in SRO's and couch-surfing through my generous friends. I'm told I'm nearing actual placement in a residence but they cant really give me a solid date. I'm on a fixed disability income and it doesn't really provide near enough funds in this current rental market. I'm surprised that I've managed to hang on for two years just scraping by without my heart exploding. A house fire forced me out of my last living situation with a friend and I'm currently doing the SRO shuffle which is a very stressful existence for a person dealing with an illness. It's like this, an SRO costs $220 per week. My monthly income is $680 so if you do the math you are probably wondering how I eat. A permanent living situation is estimated to materialize for me this year. I'm just trying to bridge the gap and make it through those months until then. It is unusual for me to share my personal issues or ask for help from anyone, but at this point I'm out of options. I am grateful for any help.
