On the morning of January 27, 2026, a fire destroyed our family home in McComb, MS. I had been living there to help care for family members, and my brother and I were inside at the time. We were fortunate to escape, but we lost everything except the clothes we were wearing.
This loss comes at an already difficult time for our family. Over the past 18 months, we have said goodbye to two loved ones — one to cancer at 77, and another to a sudden hemorrhagic stroke at 45. Another family member, who is bed-ridden, had recently been moved to an assisted living facility, which turned out to be a blessing given the circumstances.
Right now, it is just my brother (76) and me (66) trying to process the shock and the total loss of our home and belongings. The past few days have been overwhelming, and I am humbled by how quickly life can change.
If you are able to contribute or share, it would mean more than you know. Your support during this incredibly difficult time is deeply appreciated in helping us begin rebuilding.
