Donation protected
Thank you for taking the time to look into the Wyvern St Edmund’s Greenpower Club.
The Greenpower Club’s mission is to develop, build and race electric go-karts.
To achieve our mission we hope to provide our students with exposure to design and manufacturing techniques that will hopefully encourage and stimulate their passion to pursue a career in Science, Technology, engineering or Maths based futures.
We are planning to have two electric race karts. One being an off the shelf kit car, for the younger students to learn the fundamentals; and the other, a custom build for older students which aims to be the development and more competitive kart.
The Green power club has so far, proven to be incredibly popular within the school, successfully boasting a contingent of 40 members weekly. As a result of this and to allow the students a greater opportunity for racing, driving and hands on engineering, we are looking to increase the number of karts to include 5 x petrol powered go karts so that the students can have more exposure to the competitive element of motorsport. We hope to extend the exposure of the club to include the whole school access to the karts – leading to an interschool racing and engineering series.
To achieve our aim
As briefly touched upon, for our club to operate we rely on monetary and/or equipment donations. We would welcome all donations from businesses and individuals from as little as an old socket set to a set of overalls from a bike pump to even a cake that the students can use towards a bake sale. If you were not able to provide any donations, we would also welcome a visit to factories, manufacturing outlets or places of interest to inspire our students.
We estimate that we would require funds of £10,000 to purchase all the necessary equipment which include:
• Helmets, Overalls, Gloves
• Tools (general hand tools including socket sets, Spanners, allen keys/drivers, tool boxes, screwdrivers)
• Materials for development of our greenpower karts (including gearboxes, Axels, tyres and wheels, brake components chassis sundries)
• 5 x second-hand petrol go karts
• Restoration and renovation of go karts
• Trolleys for all the karts
• Spare parts (including engine spares, sprockets for gearing, bearings, steering track rods, stub axels, chains, brake sundries and nuts and bolts)
• Tow bar installation on a school minibus to allow transport of karts to and from the track
• Trailer for transportation to and from the track
In return for any support you may be able to offer; we would love you or your company branding on the cars, we would love to publicise your support through the local press streams, and we would love to share our partner brands through our school bulletins and wider Magna learning partnership channels. Not to mention provide pictures and marketing opportunities for our partners for their own websites and marketing campaigns.
If you may not be able to offer financial assistance but might be able to offer technical expertise we would also welcome this! Please do not hesitate to contact us, if you would like further information. Please email us at the school. We would welcome any suggestions/advice or words of support!
