Support Charlie's Service Dog Training

Hi! My name is Ayin, and this is Charlie. She is such a sweetheart, and the most calming presence I have ever met.

We have been training together since February 2025 with Golden Opportunities for Independence in Walpole, MA. We passed our Canine Good Citizen test and are currently working towards the Public Access Test!

She is learning to perform a variety of mobility and psychiatric related tasks.

We're teaching her to alert me to changes in my blood pressure, heart rate, and other signs that could indicate an oncoming dizzy spell. That way I can find a seat and take a break before I fall.

She is also learning to pick up my cane, her leash, and other small items if I drop them because bending can be an issue for my joints and dizziness.

One of our favorite commands is called "cuddle": I lay back and she comes up onto my chest to provide a soothing pressure (also known as deep pressure therapy).

Even when she isn't doing a specific task, knowing that she's there lends me the confidence to go out. Her companionship alone is a treasure.

Charlie adores training - I love to see her happy wiggles and excitement when we arrive and her eagerness to earn all the treats she can get her paws on!
