Poppy has suffered with autoimmune meningitis flares since the ICU stay in 2022. She’s had well over $25k in vet bills prior to this flare up and will require treatments for life, unfortunately it can not be cured.
The flare that started 7/7/25 is the worst she’s had because it’s not responding to steroids. We are trying numerous holistic treatments and extensive testing to try and get to the bottom of this and figure out what sets off a flare.
She has a liver shunt/enlarged liver so we have to be careful with medications. She was also just diagnosed with DDD, arthritis and mild tracheal softening. She’s a fighter and as long as she’s willing to fight, I will fight for her!❤️

The plan after we can get her through this flare up is to have a fecal biome transplant done to try and repair her immune system - we have to wait for test results to return for that to be done. She will get ozone treatments weekly, as well as chiropractic and when she’s a little more stable start acupuncture. She’s starting multiple herbs and supplements, including Chinese medicine blends. She’s having extensive allergy and DNA testing done to try and figure out what the underlying cause of this is and what can be done to prevent future flare up. The neurologists want to put her on chemo for life, acknowledging this will kill her and shorten her life, it’s also very dangerous because of her enlarged liver/liver shunt.
I will continue to update as we add treatments and have more of these test results in the coming weeks.
You ALL are AMAZING!!!! You are saving Poppy’s life and making it possible for her to get any and all treatment her doctor recommends. It blows my mind how costly these remedies are and we are beyond thankful for your support!!!

Poppy was admitted to the ICU at Canyon State Emergency Veteran Hospital in Phoenix AZ on 5/21/2022.

5/26 - Poppy was diagnosed with immune meningitis. This is not treatable but can hopefully be managed with meds. She will be on steroids and need monthly chemo treatments for the remainder of her life.

The cost for Poppy’s ICU stay and diagnostic testing $12,349.23 We have already spent thousands on testing. Please help us save our feisty little Poppy ❤️

5/24pm- poppy declined quickly today, so she is back in the ICU.  She is currently blind and has a cough both symptoms  just happened this afternoon, in addition to not being able to stand, eat, drink or walk. I will pick her up in the morning for our MRI and Spinal Tap appointment with the neurologist and post an update as soon as I can.

5/24 am- poppy was released from the ICU as her vital signs have been stable for 24 hours. She is not doing well, is unable to stand or hold her head up for more than a few seconds. She needs a brain MRI and spinal tap to figure out what’s causing this and we’ve been given a price of The total cost of the ICU stay was $6149.84 and we still have no answers. It’s likely that I will be bringing her back to the ICU if things do not improve quickly.

5/23 - CT scan was done and preliminary report show no sign of a liver shunt. They are referring her to a neurologist  for a MRI of her brain. They suspect it’s either encephalitis or hydrocephalus causing the symptoms

Update 5/22-
They now need to rule out a shunt inside her liver - they did not see one outside her liver but a CT is require to see one inside. She will have an echocardiogram this evening to determine if there is a cardiac cause for this and to see if her heart can handle the anesthesia for a CT scan. The doctor explained that the ammonia test is not very accurate or reliable and because of her bile test and bloodwork they know something is going on with her liver - so they have not ruled out a liver shunt or liver disease.
