Hi all! I am raising funds on behalf of a truly remarkable human- Wynter Taylor.
Wynter has served his community online in a number of ways. You might know him from his previous astrotherapy business, "Mx. Mercuri", where Wynter leveraged sidereal astrology training and relationship school certification to coach clientele with astrological readings.
As Mx. Mercuri, Wynter spent many a Sunday afternoon on livestreams helping his audience navigate trying political times by combining psychology, sociology, political knowledge, and history for culturally relevant personal growth, self-reflection, and relationship health. Wynter created spaces for BIPOC, queer, and disabled people to garner comfort, and process the traumas of the world around us. All of this, in addition to just being a delightful human being.
Now we have an opportunity to give back to our lovely Mx. Mercuri as we begin a crowdfunding effort to support him in receiving much-needed gender-affirming care. I've collected this personal statement from Wynter about why this surgery is incredibly necessary and urgent for him to receive:
"Hey besties!! Thank you in advance for taking the time to read my plea. After almost 4 years on T I’m finally pursuing top surgery, and at [what will be] 32 years old. At this stage of my transition, my chest has filled out so much that TransTape doesn’t hold up for long, binding is incredibly uncomfortable, and basic sports bras cut into my skin throughout the day. Not to mention, the image I have of my body is so distorted at this point that I struggle to see myself clearly, which causes more distress than I care to admit.
As if discomfort and dysphoria weren’t enough, I feel increasingly more concerned for my safety in this political climate. I still mask in public, which already draws negative attention my way, and navigating spaces like bathrooms, locker rooms, pools, gyms, and even gas stations in Texas has genuinely become dangerous and anxiety-inducing for me. While this surgery is very much about wanting to have a more aesthetically masculine chest, it’s mainly about having some level of safety and comfort in mundane social encounters.
Feeling freer in my body will be a lifelong process for me, and top surgery is a massive step in that direction. My workplace insurance explicitly refuses to cover any gender transition-related surgeries, so I do have to come out of pocket to pay for this. However, I’ve chosen a surgeon and surgical team here in Austin who make me feel comfortable, accepted, and cared for, and who share my goal of sculpting as natural-looking of a chest for me as possible. In the spirit of learning to ask for help and let folks who care about me offer their support, I’m asking for assistance in overcoming this financial hurdle. Anything you can offer helps, from donations to regularly boosting this post over the next few months. I’ll also be applying to any grants that I can find, and would appreciate links to any other trans-specific funds that you know of!
Thanks again for reading, and I appreciate you being a part of making a huge dream of mine come true!"
Wynter has received a consultation from a doctor here in Austin and scheduled surgery for March 16th, 2027. We have a tentative goal of about $15,000 for the cost of surgery, anesthesia, and aftercare. In this economy, this would be a huge financial burden for Wynter to shoulder as someone who lives alone. Your donation would help us bring this cost down for him significantly, so any amount counts! The surgery center needs the payment to be received 4 weeks in advance, so our goal is to receive all of these funds before Valentine's Day 2027.
For those of you able to give or share this GoFundMe, thank you for your contribution and commitment to helping a Trans Man thrive. Gender-affirming care is healthcare; it is protection from an endless transphobic media effort, and it is suicide prevention.
