I am Wynter Nicole Cook a graduating BFA Musical Theatre Major at Howard University. I chose to study at this University for the legacy that it held, the effervescent black community and the opportunities I knew would be provided. Opportunities such as BADA’s Midsummer in Oxford Program, notoriously attended by the college's namesake Chadwick A. Boseman. Midsummer in Oxford offers classes that would complete my training in a momentous way. Their Acting, Shakespeare, Voice, Movement, and Clown courses have chiseled the discipline of so many astonishing performers in a locale known for rigorous training and strong theatrical tradition, promising to set me on a path for success beyond what I knew was possible. My journey to becoming a professional actress hasn't been easy; late nights, exhausting performances, and excruciating assignments have filled my semesters. Yet, it has been worth every tear and worthy of every smile and feeling of pride. I have invested in myself and chased my dreams all my life. I have found that to succeed in this I have to continue to fight for myself relentlessly not to become the next Taraji P. Henson or Chadwick A. Boseman but to become the best version of Wynter N. Cook. I believe that the BADA Midsummer in Oxford Program will help me step into the next chapter of my performance career. I am asking that you invest in me too.
