Wylie ISD Teacher involved in a Head-on Collision

On December 13, 2024, Rosanna Strickland was involved in a head-on collision on 982 in Culleoka. She suffered a broken left hip socket, a fractured left ankle, broken L3 & L4 bones in her spine, multiple facial fractures, as well as a laceration in her stomach which was caused by something impaling her in the car. She has multiple bruises and lots of swelling as well. She’s undergone hip surgery repairing her left hip socket as well as facial surgery for the fractures in her face.

Rosanna has been teaching for 15 years and currently teaches in Wylie ISD at Dodd Elementary and teaches 4th grade Math & Science. Outside of being a teacher, she’s adventurous, loves to travel, and loves to try new things, but most importantly, she is known for her love for the Lord. She has impacted so many people throughout her life by sharing her love for the Lord. While visiting her in the hospital, she said something that really resonated with me. She said, “I used to read the Bible to learn about God, but now I read the Bible to spend time with God.”

Her 3 children, Brendon, Braden & Emma, are her entire world, as well as the hundreds of kids she has taught over the years. Any parent that has been lucky enough to have their child in her class will gladly tell you how she left a big impression not only on their child’s heart but theirs as well.

Rosanna’s children, her sweet momma, and a few close friends have been by her side every step of the way. Everyone has been so focused on her recovery and so very thankful for God’s Grace. However, when things like this happen in our life, the world does not stop. Rosanna, being a teacher, we know that teachers do not teach for the pay; they teach in hopes to have an impact on each and every individual that comes through their classroom.

Rosanna has a long road of recovery and at this time we have no idea what that entails, but as Rosanna would say, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding; in all your ways know him, and he will make your paths straight." Rosanna is the type of person who would give the shirt off her back and never ask for anything in return, and she would find pure joy in doing so. My hope is that if we could take some of the financial stress off her, that would be a true blessing for her and her precious family.

Just a few words from her children: Mom is the rock of our family. When you talk about a God-fearing woman who praises the Lord's name, that’s my mom. She’s the most caring and selfless person on this planet. To know her is to love her, and to love her is the best feeling in the world. Mom is the person who is giving out food and clothes to homeless people on Thanksgiving instead of spending time with her family. She has a smile brighter than all the stars in the sky and is there for you anytime you need it. She’s raised us to have a love and faith in the Lord that you can’t put a price tag on. We don’t know what we would do without Mom, and we’re so thankful that the Lord has given us another chance with her beautiful soul.

Rosanna has many favorite Bible verses, but one that means the most to her is Romans 8:28: "And we know that all things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose."

From Rosanna, and her family, “We are so very thankful for each and every one of you that has reached out with prayers, love, and support. It truly means so very much to us and has made this journey a little bit easier to endure.”
