Hello,

I’m raising funds on behalf of my dear friend Ratna who’s going through a most difficult time with her mom in ICU and bills accumulating way over what they could ever afford.

Please find herewith her plea to you:

« I received an urgent call from my family, asking if I could fly to Kuala Lumpur immediately—my mother’s condition had become critical. Without a second thought, I left Vienna and boarded the next flight to Malaysia.

Mama was having extreme difficulty breathing. Doctors discovered that her airway was almost entirely blocked due to an enlarged thyroid and recommended emergency tracheal surgery. The surgery went well, and we were told she could be discharged in 3–4 days.

But things took a turn for the worse. Mama developed a serious lung infection, and her lungs filled with fluid. After further tests, doctors had to perform another procedure to drain her lungs. What was supposed to be a short hospital stay turned into more than three exhausting and emotional weeks.

Mama had to be treated by multiple specialists, undergo several scans, and take critical medications, which caused medical bills to pile up far beyond what we had prepared. Despite everything, we fought to keep her stable.

Eventually, we made the difficult decision to bring Mama home to Indonesia, hoping she could rest more comfortably there. We had to hire a medical team to escort her, adding to the financial burden. She was briefly treated at a hospital in Indonesia, then sent home—but only three days later, she struggled to breathe again and had to be rushed back to the ICU.

She has been in the ICU since the 1st of this month, still battling lung complications and relying on life-support. Her condition is fragile, and she now also needs physiotherapy to help her walk again after weeks in bed.

Our family is doing all we can, but the costs have become overwhelming. We’re reaching out to ask—if you feel moved to help, any contribution from your heart would mean the world to us. Your kindness will directly support Mama’s treatment, medications, and therapy.
