On Friday, June 25, 2021, Owen County EMS-KY Emergency Medical Technician Joshua Riley and his 5-year-old daughter Laya were involved in a motorcycle accident in Bardstown. Josh sustained extensive injuries to his left side, including to his finger, hand, and leg. Laya received a small skull fracture and road rash on her arm, back, and shoulders. While their injuries are not life-threatening, Josh has undergone orthopedic surgery to regain function of his hand. There will be additional surgeries on his leg and hand.

Josh is a longtime EMT (12 years in the field) and volunteer firefighter. He has served with Owen County EMS for one year and recently joined the Owen County Volunteer Fire Department. ​He is a husband and father of three and is looking at extended time off work. We are asking the community that Josh has dedicated the last year of his life serving to rally around him and his family during this difficult time. This fundraiser is to cover out-of-pocket and deductible insurance limit costs. As his friends and co-workers, we appreciate your support and continued thoughts and prayers.
