Hi, My Name's Shawn, and this is Wyatt, my three-year-old nephew!
We need your help to support this adorable kid and his kind and caring parents who are struggling.
Wyatt was diagnosed with autism and sensory processing disorder at 16.5 months old, along with some other health concerns that can be common in children with autism.
Wyatt’s parents saw the devastating regression in their son's development. He once had a few words, he was mimicking and saying bye-bye, but that didn't last long and he is now completely nonverbal.
Having a high support needs child has been extremely difficult for his parents, emotionally, mentally, physically and financially. As they not only have to worry about his emotional and physical needs on a daily basis, they also have to worry about their own mental health and the financial burden upon them trying to provide care and support for Wyatt.
My sister has contemplated leaving her full-time job to stay home to support Wyatt but for financial reasons she can’t due to his costly therapy services.
Wyatt is on a waitlist for core services from the government which will take many many years. It is important for Wyatt to get the help now in developmental years as it can improve his outcome - The best chance he has for development is support now!
Wyatt struggles to have good days and It's been terrible seeing the effects this has had on my sister and her family. They are consistently in a state of worry and distress and it's breaking our hearts. Our family just wants to be able to help get Wyatt the support he deserves and get his parents some joy back into their lives.
All Donations will be put towards Wyatts;
ABA Therapy
Speech Therapy
Occupational Therapy
And any other associated medical costs
The Local News did a story featuring Wyatt - https://www.chch.com/shortage-of-core-therapy-funds-for-kids-with-autism-sparks-concerns/
We would greatly appreciate any donation to help this sweet little boy get the services he deserves. No donation is too small. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
For any locals, we are also holding a fundraising Multi-Home Garage Sale for Wyatt on August 19th at 125 Anastasia Blvd, Smithville, ON There will be snacks, a big raffle with lots of prizes and many great items up for sale.
