FULL SEND: Wyatt's Road to Remission
Dearest Family and Friends,
We are starting this GoFundMe for our nephew, Wyatt Gildersleeve. For those of you who know the Gildersleeve family well, you know that they are always on the road… to baseball practice, to school, to football games, to work, to visit family and friends, or even to their favorite camping spot. Never did we expect that their family would be on the road to Omaha for cancer treatments for their son, Wyatt.
Wyatt is an active 16-years-old with a caring heart and positive spirit. In June 2021, Wyatt was recently with Ewing’s Sarcoma, a rare and aggressive form of bone cancer. Quickly after the diagnosis, his dedicated team of doctors and nurses began an intense treatment plan. Wyatt started chemotherapy and will continue treatments in Omaha every other week for three months. After three months, his medical team will regroup and determine next steps. Without surprise, Wyatt’s positivity and confidence are continually shining through these difficult times. It's clear that he has been raised by two strong and dedicated parents who are giving to their family, friends and community.
Over the past few weeks, expenses have been mounting quickly. Any monetary donation will be supporting Wyatt’s medical care, but also assisting with countless additional expenses, such as:
- Hotels/Housing while in Omaha for treatment
- Transportation to and from Omaha
- Food and other essentials while traveling
The Gildersleeve family are not ones to ask for anything, but the first to ask how they can help you. Therefore, my husband and I are asking on their behalf. If you are able to contribute to this GoFundMe, we would be so grateful. Any financial support you may be able to provide to their family is appreciated; no amount is too small.
Whether or not you are able to donate financially, our family believes in the power of prayer. Please continue to lift up Wyatt and his family in prayer, specifically for:
- Wyatt, for strength as he endures intense chemotherapy treatments
- The doctors and nurses, for their God-given talents as they manage Wyatt’s care and plan moving forward
- Makenna, Wyatt’s twin sister, as she navigates life with her brother and parents out of town every other week
- Wyatt, for continued dedication to his partially remote school work in the fall
- Emily and Jeremy, for their safety while traveling and peace while taking on this new battle
- The Gildersleeve family, for their trust in our Lord and surrendering all worries and outcomes to Him
“I have told you this so you might have peace in me. In the world, you will have trouble, but take courage, I have conquered the world.” John 16:33
It has been heartwarming to see the outpouring of support from our community, our family and our friends. We can’t thank you enough for keeping our family in your thoughts and in your prayers on Wyatt’s road to remission. We appreciate any way that you can continue to support Wyatt, Makenna, Emily and Jeremy.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.
In peace, hope, and love,
Kristin and Steve Kelly
