Wyatt’s ICU recovery
Beschermde donatie
Tough sweet little Wyatt is getting stronger each day!! He’s now exuberant and full of life ♥️
His feeding tube is coming out tomorrow and his follow up labs show remarkable progress!!!! Doctors informed me that he will make a full recovery with no long term health damage/care.
He had a month long battle for his life - 3 surgeries, 3 emergency room trips, 4 nights in ICU, followed by 11 nights in the ICU.
I ended up loosing my new job having to work remotely for almost 2 weeks to be by his side. First time loosing a job - just so grateful my little champion recovered.
Thank you to everyone who was rooting for him and to those who shared and/or donated!!
Your support helped him survive - I am forever grateful.
His vet bills were astronomical totaling around $48,000 from his first emergency room trip to getting him home.
He still has some hefty vet bills coming up with his follow up tests and medications.
Any additional assistance would be greatly appreciated.
His miraculous health adventure below:
It was the most frightful time of our lives & a miracle he is still with us. When they first found the mass on his spleen, I was informed that there was a 90% chance it was a hemangiosarcoma – an incurable highly malignant tumor (1–3-month life expectancy). The 10% being a hematoma which could rupture at any time and kill him. either way they would have to remove his spleen as needle biopsies are not accurate w/ a splenic mass.
His CT scan while under anesthesia discovered congested liver tissue and inflammation in his GI tract. Part of his liver was removed, and they took 4 additional biopsies.
2 days post op Wyatt had internal bleeding. He has a heart murmur & was so weak from severe pancreatitis and major surgery they said that even if they could find and control the bleed, he most likely would not survive. We opted for surgery.
Little Wyatt pulled through – he had multiple blood, platelet, and Albumin transfusions, two feeding tubes, and an abdominal drain. He was at high risk of forming fatal blood clots and other complications post internal bleed.
Biopsies came back NEGATIVE for cancer – he had the hematoma on his spleen and congested liver tissue from blood build up from severe pancreatitis.
I would go visit him 3 times a day for an hour so he could get proper rest, ICU is not conducive to rest for fur babies. I felt I was going to lose him every day.
Thank you animal lovers and fans of Wyatt!
Sincerely,
Danielle aka Wyatt’s mom
