Hi, I'm Riley. I am 27 years old and starting a career in science. I have two younger brothers, Ben and Sam, in college and high school. Last November we learned that our mother, Lori, is facing pancreatic cancer. We would like to raise money for our mom and dad to pack their bags and see the world.
A breast cancer survivor of 10+ years, my mom is facing another aggressive cancer. Since January 2015 she has gone 14 rounds of harsh chemotherapy and has seen positive progress. There is no chance of surgery in the near future. The cancer itself is very painful and gives her much discomfort. The chemotherapy eats away at her nerves, leaving her very sensitive to cold, not to mention sleepy and food just doesn't taste the same. Despite these huge obstacles, my mom is kind, and loving, and extraordinarily brave. She has been a champion this year. Her spirits are high. She lifts us up and uses faith in God as her rock. My dad is an amazing man and I am very proud of him. His constant and happy care of my mother during this time has been something I will never forget.
Mom has not been outside the country. She talks of taking long drives in Scotland around the Isle of Sky, drinking beer in Dublin, and shopping in London and Paris. It would be a dream come true to visit the West Coast or see Alaska. My brothers and I want to send our parents there to enjoy their time together. They have done so much for us and given up almost everything to make sure we have what we need to be successful and happy. We are not able to pay for these experiences out of our pockets. Would you be so kind as to help us out?
I know from my traveling experiences that there is no greater feeling than being with the people you love, submerged into new culture with an adventure at hand. That is an experience I want my mother to know. I want her to hear the accents, see the sunset in a Scottish loche, taste the local wine and cheese, and splash in the ocean water. I believe an adventure is quite the gift and a great way to say, thank you.
I would like to present the money we collect around the Holidays this year. I appreciate, with all my heart, your donation to our cause.
God bless you,
Riley
