When I first saw him that day, I thought my dad was having a stroke. My brother drove him to the hospital and they told us that his kidneys had failed. This caused a fluid buildup in his body, which in turn caused a heart attack. My dad spent a month in the hospital having open heart surgery and starting on dialysis. We were told that he would need a kidney transplant. And miraculously enough, my mom is a match!! Shoutout to my mom, who didn't even think twice about agreeting to give my dad her kidley! The surgery is set for February 17th and both of my parents will be out for awhile. However, the anti-retroviral medications you need after having a transplant are not covered under insurance. The medication is approximately $1200 a month for almost a year. I am starting a campaign to raise money for one of the most generous, caring, amazing men I know to be able to live off of dialysis and spend his time with his children and grandchildren. Anything and everything helps, and sharing this campaign will help us spread the news and get my dad on track to get his life back. Thank you all for all of your donations and for giving my dad a new life...and kidney!
