Wow, I am overwhelmed by the response for Vance. Thank you friends and family. As you can see we are just a little over half way to our goal. Thank you for sharing this campaign with your friends. Every little bit helps. If you know Vance then your know his emotions, and I can guarantee that this show of love and support has choked him up a time or two.

Hello, as Vance's sister I am excited to announce that my brother Vance has the opportunity to get a Balance/Mobility Service Dog!
In 2010, Vance was diagnosed with Inclusion Body Myositis (IBM). IBM is an inflammatory muscle disease characterized by slowly progressive weakness and wasting of both distal and proximal muscles, this disease has shown most evidently in Vance's arms and legs. Normal everyday activities have become increasingly more difficult for Vance to do.
IBM is not considered a fatal disorder but there is no cure and the risk of serious injury due to falls is increased significantly.
A Service Dog would increase Vance's ability to navigate in public easier as well as at home, and as time progresses the Service Dog will become more and more valuable to Vance.
The funds raised will be used to help aide in the training of a Service Dog.
Vance moved to California 2 years ago where the warmer weather proved to be of some help to his muscles. But with the move came distance, and the inability for us Washingtonians to be of much help to him on a daily basis. It would be a comfort to me and the family to know that Vance has a "Friend" who could help him everyday.
